A video showing two people being assaulted has been circulating on Twitter here and here.
It was posted on January 20.
It had garnered 308 000 views and 1 208 retweets on just one of the tweets, at the time of this fact check.
One of the Twitter accounts belongs to a provincial radio station.
However, the video has previously appeared on Twitter almost a year ago, on 26 January 2022, here.
At that time the tweet alleged that the incident had occurred in South Africa.
Conclusion
Claims that the video is showing cattle thieves in Figtree, Zimbabwe and that this is a recent incident are false. The video has appeared before on social media with claims that it’s of an incident of stock theft in South Africa.
